Here a few comments from parents and children regarding home learning in lockdown.

What have been the strengths of the remote learning for your child in the current lockdown?

  • Consistent approach, teacher led with the opportunity to interact
  • She is much more focused as there is a structure. Better interaction with the teacher & classmates
  • My daughter getting to see her teacher and other children is the most valuable strength. Just seeing other human beings is so much better for her mental health. Her being able to ask Mrs Caunce questions and also the onus is now with the teacher to do the teaching part rather than parents (as it was in the last lockdown) which is so hard when you don’t know what you are doing. She still needs lots of help and support but she is a lot more independent this lockdown.
  • He enjoys the opportunity to interact live with the teachers and pupils, which was not possible during the first lockdown.
  • The live lessons have been brilliant.  Makes it more social and less lonely for the child
  • Activities are manageable and there is a good balance of live lessons and independent work. We are very grateful for the amount of teacher input provided.
  • Developing collaborative IT skills
  • Seeing his friends, and being able to ask Mrs Caunce in person if he doesn't understand everything.
  • Seeing the class teacher, being able to ask questions face to face and being involved in discussion work during a live lesson. It’s been the very next best thing to actually being in the classroom. It has made a huge difference to my child’s attitude to learning this lockdown and for this we are extremely grateful!
  • Interaction with the teachers and seeing friends on the calls has helped with their well being. They don’t feel as isolated this time.
  • The routine and also the flexibility of work options available.
